That loss to Northside in the 2000 quarterfinals was a heartbreaker, then they went on to lose to Bassett in the state championship game, who Lee beat in the Region finals. Tipped it back in with 0.2 seconds left and won by 2. I think Fertitta was 6-2 maybe.

I will bet you a steak dinner that Gate City finishes a lot higher than 5th in the Clinch Mountain District. They're going to be tough this year. Lee High will be the team to beat, not Va High.

Missy Anderson scored her 1000 point in the Fall of 1989. She had played basketball at Jonesville High School. She went on to play at Duke University.
